A tiny kitchen in Berkeley, CA got a facelift that improved its layout, enabling better functioning and spatial interaction. As replacement of appliances or cabinets was not feasible, the design approach became interventional, resulting in a radical change. The design of a new multipurpose counter enables adaptability in its use- eating, food preparation and ironing. Hand crafted from recycled wine crates and topped with a butcher block, it has become the joyous focus of this small space. Deconstructed wine crate wood uplifted and refreshed this small kitchen, giving it a new language.
