Ecological abode

A retreat situated in the breathtaking Himalayan foothills in North India, is connected holistically to its sumptuous three-acre wooded site. Inspired by the regional vernacular, the structure incorporates passive solar design and indigenous building methods using local materials. As architect, Sandhya also took on the role of builder, working with artisans and innovating construction techniques on site. The house and gardens create a profound sense of place, nestled amidst a seasonal creek and century-old cacti.
