Indian Institute of Immunology

NEW DELHI, INDIA

IIM is a complex of academic, laboratory and research buildings with faculty and student housing grouped on an undulating site designed by Raj Rewal, winner of the Robert Mathew award of the Commonwealth Association of Architects.

The buildings are connected through a system of walkways, gardens and courtyards laid on a series of shifting axes. Gateways and linking elements such as exterior stairs and pathways offer dynamic views of the natural landscape.

As an architectural intern at the site office, Sandhya was documenting construction, responding to RFI's and coordinating with the project manager. Construction observation included shuttering and pouring of concrete frame structure, in situ sandstone grit panels and interior finishes of the lecture hall.

A prepared site report fetched first position in the fourth academic year as an undergraduate architecture student.
