Davis Plaza

DAVIS, CA

A three storey 18,700 sq ft commercial building occupied by the US Forest Service takes place of significance in South Davis plaza, across downtown and UC Davis. Using an urban language that visually connects with adjacent uses in the plaza, building form follows the quadrant shape of the site. Entrance and parking are placed on Research Park Drive while upper terraces screened by trellises orient to an inner private street. Circulation towers culminate above the corbelled parapet, clad in red clay tiles. The design was applauded with a majority vote by the Davis Planning Commission at the first hearing.
